Bringing NTRO under Intelligence Act.
NTRO (National Technical Research Organisation) was formed after 1999 Kargil war.
NTRO reports directly to the PMO (Prime Minister’s Office) & NSA (National Security Advisor).
With a notification by Home Ministry, NTRO has been listed under The Intelligence Organisations (Restriction of Rights) Act, 1985.
So, now, NTRO will have same “norms of conduct” as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) & the Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW).
Effect on the employees @ NTRO
¬ restrictions on freedom of expression of the employees
¬ no communication with the press
¬ not allowed to form associations or unions
Demand by other organisations to be brought under the Act.
NIA (National Investigation Agency), NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau), DRI (Directorate of Revenue Intelligence), etc. have also been demanding the same status of “Intelligence Organisation”.
With Great Love,
